Trainer - Okay so that thing you did? Try not doing that again

Sarver - This is too hard. I can’t do this

Pretty sure that franchise is cursed into eternity. As is all Cleveland as a whole, really. LeBron and then winning the championship was LeBron trading in part of his divinity to actually get that one, it's why he left so soon after. To stay any longer would have made him mortal.

Gilbert is a pretty good owner IMO. Willing to shell out and generally doesn't step on the toes of the front office or try to make basketball decisions. His biggest failing is a rotating cast of GMs. He doesn't even try to retain good GMs

Conspiracy theory time: what if CP3 is the league’s spy to get bad owners to sell? He goes to the team, plays well but also investigates any wrong doing by the ownership and sends his report to Silver/media anonymously.

His nickname is already prime for espionage and doing the dirty work (One Piece reference) maybe he’ll be part of CP0 team soon

70

u/klondikes Supersonics Sep 21 '22

Omg that explains why Stern blocked the trade of CP3 to the lakers in 2011! He was going to be traded so he could investigate the burgeoning Lakers shitshow, but an emergency assignment came up - gathering the evidence that would lead to the take down of Sterling!

He’s the Erin Brockovich of the league.

JD & the Straight Shot

One of the reviews cited on their Wikipedia page is still one of my favorite murders:

After a 2017 show in New York City, another reviewer observed that Dolan "sings like he's trying not to cough, and it's possible he can't play the guitar. Worse, his songs belie his status as a cosplaying bluesman; most of his lyrics simply summarize current events or books that he's read as if he were presenting a 10th grade English class project.

If there is one thing billionaires love more than making money, it's making even more money. He's not thinking of the sell as making money, he's gonna see the value go up and up and only see money LOST. Also owning a pro sports team is prestige and losing that will diminish him in the eyes of his peers so that's gonna be a dick punch also. Especially since he doesn't want to sell. These motherfuckers, and most corporations, don't want a lot of money they want ALL the money. If people like him could make money (however little) by executing innocent people everyday, (some corporations aren't too far off from that hypothetical) you better believe they wouldn't hesitate.

"Robert Sarver, managing partner of the Phoenix Suns and Phoenix Mercury, today issued the following statement.

PHOENIX, Sept. 21, 2022 /PRNewswire/ -- Words that I deeply regret now overshadow nearly two decades of building organizations that brought people together – and strengthened the Phoenix area – through the unifying power of professional men's and women's basketball.

As a man of faith, I believe in atonement and the path to forgiveness. I expected that the commissioner's one-year suspension would provide the time for me to focus, make amends and remove my personal controversy from the teams that I and so many fans love.

But in our current unforgiving climate, it has become painfully clear that that is no longer possible – that whatever good I have done, or could still do, is outweighed by things I have said in the past. For those reasons, I am beginning the process of seeking buyers for the Suns and Mercury.

I do not want to be a distraction to these two teams and the fine people who work so hard to bring the joy and excitement of basketball to fans around the world. I want what's best for these two organizations, the players, the employees, the fans, the community, my fellow owners, the NBA and the WNBA. This is the best course of action for everyone.

In the meantime, I will continue to work on becoming a better person, and continuing to support the community in meaningful ways. Thank you for continuing to root for the Suns and the Mercury, embracing the power that sports has to bring us together.

SOURCE Robert Sarver"

Dude must have an apology fetish. I haven't seen someone "apologize" while jerking themselves off that hard.

He is blaming it on the current “unforgiving climate”.

What a jackass. How about blaming yourself for years of misconduct, racism and making the Suns a shitty work place?

Wow instead of taking responsibility for his actions and actually apologizing he blames him having to sell the team on an “unforgiving climate”.

People like him are not living in the same world as the rest of us.

It will be kind of hilarious to watch Miles Bridges eventually suit up while the players talk about how Sarver needed to go. Or how Lance Stephenson pushed his girlfriend down a flight of stairs without a peep. Not a peep from the players about what Edwards said either. LeBron even celebrated the trade for Deshaun Watson.

It’s all about power and money. None of these people give a shit about morals.

Of course it is lol. Kidd is a HC to give you an example. Rich people get rich people treatment, it's just the way it is.

As a man of faith, I believe in atonement and the path to forgiveness. I expected that the commissioner's one-year suspension would provide the time for me to focus, make amends and remove my personal controversy from the teams that I and so many fans love as there's a drive into the paint by Devin Booker and that'll be a slam dunk. And so that'll make it a 2-0 ballgame. I don't know if I'm going to be putting on my owner's jacket again. I don't know if it's going to be for the Suns. I don't know if it's going to be for my bosses at the Phoenix Suns ownership group

Watch the Sun's win the championship after this

42

u/TraeCartoon Suns Sep 21 '22

Not immediately but it’s certainly possible in the near future. I’m sure Sarver & the league will sell the team to a super wealthy guy, it wouldn’t shock me at all if Jeff Bezos is lining up to buy the team. A guy like that wouldn’t give a flying fuck about extending Cam Johnson or spending big money on a CP3 replacement. No different than Balmer after he took over Clippers. They just want to win a championship and dunk on other billionaires.

There’s a slight chance the Suns get sold to another cheapskate but I just don’t see it. The Suns are one of the oldest franchises and the league would want them to be in good hands.

Happiest I’ve been as a sports fan in years lol.

So the public shaming worked. Ultimately, for some that are cynical about these things, this is an example where someone rightfully suffers for the bad things they did, even if they’re rich.

We should all buy Baxter Holmes a lunch. That guy broke the story when everyone else knew but was too afraid to say anything. He then had to withstand slander and accusations from Sarver for his journalism. Reporter MVP
