I’m a brown dude who’s lived all over this country. That’s the only group of people that’s ever randomly threatened my life completely unprovoked

228

u/HomebrewHedonist Sep 23 '22

Really sorry to hear that. I wish this wasn't common, but unfortunately it is.

133

u/HelloJoeyJoeJoe Sep 23 '22

Now imagine them but with the power of life or death over you, ala the police.

This is why I pay so much money to live in a blue area.

95

u/Tight_Fold_2606 Sep 23 '22

The police are included in that group of experiences. And I was 12 at the time.

26

u/YFLwiddaHomies Sep 23 '22

Fuck the police

2

u/knitmeablanket Sep 23 '22

Glorified revenue chasers.

2

u/DicmanSackrider Sep 23 '22

Let's not conveniently forget that they vote, too.

Those people have a real say in the laws that directly affect your life.

That's not OK.

u/Miami_Beach_Man Sep 23 '22

I'm a quiet brown straight dude who used to hate going partying until I found gay clubs.

Music is fantastic and I feel completely safe that there won't be any fighting or racist shit going down. Even if those things happened some of those gay dudes are shredded!

1

u/Seascorpious Oct 09 '22

Its the drag queens you have to look out for. Those girls will fuck you up if you start spewing toxic bull around them.

30

u/SargeantSAC Sep 23 '22 edited Sep 23 '22

That’s your story to tell and so sad that it’s true… guessing not just unprovoked but with unabashed confidence.

As a white guy living in the south, in an area with a large black population, I've noticed that sometimes some other white guys will give you this special kind of look/nod. Hard to explain, but it's almost like: "hell it's good to see another white, brother".

It makes me very uncomfortable. The reason I can identify this particular look is that on occasion it's been accompanied by unsolicited racist commentary.

7

u/Tight_Fold_2606 Sep 23 '22

From my time in the south I’d say that sounds about right. I’ve seen it and I have family that looks white and they say the wildest shit to them

1

u/imnphilyeet Sep 23 '22

I’m a white dude and I’ve gotten it from all races while delivering food, guess when your black you get double from one and none from the other

-1

u/DeusVoltMD Sep 23 '22

If you’re a brown dude, I got news for you about who liberal white women feel uncomfortable around. This post is stupid, feelings of discomfort mean nothing. If someone feels threatened by you but you ain’t doing shit to them that’s on them not you.

-16

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '22

That sucks man, and I'm sorry to hear that. I'm a straight, white, somewhat conservative-ish pagan dude with some liberal views. I may like certain qualities of conservatism like, balancing the budget, being savvy with money when you can be, etc. I draw the line at racism/hatred/unwarranted bullshit of any kind. Fuck that shit. You've never deserved your life threatened, and for what? Stupidity. That ain't right.

25

u/brain_is_nominal Sep 23 '22

I may like certain qualities of conservatism like, balancing the budget, being savvy with money when you can be, etc

lmao What an absurd comment. I have known an extensive amount of liberals/Democrats in my life, spanning decades, and I have yet to meet one that doesn't strive to be financially responsible. Not a single one. zero nada zilch

-2

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '22

Yet our government sure do like to waste money and love blank checks. There would be no need for balancing if it weren't already absolutely absurd as it stands.

1

u/sees_you_pooping Sep 24 '22

My state has been led by the red for decades and can barely afford to keep schools open. "Conservatives" are not financially responsible. They are crooks and having to fund public services just means less money for them to pocket. You're a fool if you bought into that rhetoric. Almost every republican run state is being financially propped up by the liberal blue states.

0

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '22

Honestly, neither side are financially responsible. Look at our national debt. Republicans say they are about fiscal responsibility but then drop it as soon as they are in office. I will hand it to Dems though, at least they don't bullshit when attempting to pass bills that spend trillions in taxpayer dollars. Still not a good look though.

You mean the thing that only liberals actually do?

-11

u/Cool1Mach Sep 23 '22

As a hispanic who is friends with mostly christian whitw males. That has never been true for me.

12

u/Feisty_Difference278 Sep 23 '22

So did you get the white approval you were after yet?

-6

u/Cakeo Sep 23 '22

Turns out this is just another thread to bash white guys glad to be here.

3

u/PMmeyourw-2s Sep 23 '22

Cry us all a river

1

u/mackfactor Sep 23 '22

Y'all sure do whine a lot. What do you think has happened to every minority for hundreds of years? You wouldn't make it a week with melanin in your skin.

-7

u/Apprehensive_Heron17 Sep 23 '22

Ofcorse both sides are full of racist sexist people

-1

u/Cool1Mach Sep 23 '22

Why you got to be racist and sexist against white men dude? You think other men from other religions or races cant hurt you or want to hurt you?

1

u/mackfactor Sep 23 '22

But they don't . . .

0

u/Cool1Mach Sep 24 '22

You wouldnt be more scared around hispanic cartel members or african american gang members or islamic extremist like what iran is revolting against? Or the someone from the taliban. Be real man this post is stupid.

1

u/mackfactor Sep 24 '22

Couldn't tell you - I've never run into any of them. Run into plenty of white dude racists, though.

1

u/Feisty_Difference278 Oct 01 '22

Got it because white males are completely faultless and do no wrong. White males are innocent, sweet angels.

Oh wait…

1

u/Cool1Mach Oct 01 '22 edited Oct 01 '22

I never said that. Im saying there are bad people in every race and gender why single out white straight males.

-12

u/DnDkonto Sep 23 '22 edited Sep 23 '22

My response to you is "please change and grow as a person."

3

u/AdelLilith Sep 23 '22

"Shitty vax" uh why am I not surprised. Dude has the whole kit, its prolly too late to expect him to get sense.

Not to mention if we are talking about America, cops are more likely to send white ppl off with a shoulder pat and no record (especially teens, wouldn't wanna ruin their future with a rape case 🙄) than poc.

0

u/makingthisfor1reason Sep 25 '22

Lol

And it is a shitty vax no doubt. Your boy buOrla just got it again I'm like 6 weeks apart. Much like your boy Biden- who was accused and his VP agreed with accuser lols Reddit never change don't worry trump sucks too just not quite as much

Mandates made me less likely to get it

1

u/AdelLilith Sep 25 '22

Mandates are because people are too dumb to get vaccinated and get their information from conspiracy theory yt channels.

Its not supposed to completely prevent you from getting it yk... its supposed to lessen your chances of getting it and make it significantly better for you even if you catch it. Even if the virus doesn't kill you it can cause permanent damage to you. I'd rather not take my chances. 2-3 visits at the doctor depending on how many you are getting vs potentially dying or getting intubated.

0

u/makingthisfor1reason Sep 25 '22

Nope those are the new goalposts

Weird I thought mandates would be about safety not intelligence level

Also what does it matter. If you have the vaccine you won't get the disease--well what they used to say--now I won't get sick and be in hospital so not sure why it matters when the end user can take their supplement/vaccine

0

u/makingthisfor1reason Sep 25 '22

Lol I think it's dumb to trust big gov/pharma/msm with their terrible track record and take a new tech vac or a new virus in the same year or so...turns out made the right choice. Such a shitty vax

1

u/AdelLilith Sep 25 '22

Im not american, yet the mandates and suggestions were similar... wonder why. Maybe cause its backed up by doctors who studied for for years. But sure man you probably know viruses, mRNA and immunity more than those with a degree 😶

Its not a new tech, it has been worked on for years before they got the opportunity to apply it in practice.

What makes it shitty? r/HermanCainAward is full of people who had the same opinion and died suffocating while being connected to machines. To a totally preventable disease. Like in the middle ages.

Antivax and racist....Thats not a combo ive ever encountered on reddit yet s/

But you are right, evidence backed information is important, thus why Im going to add my own evidence. I already posted this once, but what the hell, why not:

https://academic.oup.com/qje/advance-article-abstract/doi/10.1093/qje/qjac037/6710386?redirectedFrom=fulltext&login=false

From https://repec.cepr.org/repec/cpr/ceprdp/DP15691.pdf:

and by the way, the black crime stat yall love to bring out, is actually proof that systemic racism does in fact exist and our government keep black communities poor on purpose. it directly correlates to poverty.

1

u/makingthisfor1reason Sep 25 '22

15 days old too. Don't Nerd out too hard here

2

u/DarthBrandon_2024 Sep 23 '22

https://academic.oup.com/qje/advance-article-abstract/doi/10.1093/qje/qjac037/6710386?redirectedFrom=fulltext&login=false

Here is one right here for you:

From https://repec.cepr.org/repec/cpr/ceprdp/DP15691.pdf:

We then analyze whether the change in the probability of a Black stop after a Trump rally is due to a change in police or driver behavior. Using stop-level information on collisions and speed radars as well as additional evidence from crash and fatality data, we 3 find no evidence for a change in the racial composition of drivers or in driver behavior. This suggests that the effect of Trump rallies is due to a change in law enforcement behavior.
